Dr. Yang grew up in Chengdu, China. Before coming to the U.S., he was an ophthalmologist at West China University of Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Yang received his Ph.D. degree in Neuroscience at the University of Connecticut and finished a research fellowship in the Molecular Bases of Eye Diseases Program at ​the Department of Ophthalmology of Harvard Medical School. He then obtained his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Yang ​pursued his residency of Ocular Diseases at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in the team of Dr. Bradford Shingleton, where he was trained in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases. Following his residency, he was offered a position as a valuable member of OCB. 

Dr. Yang has authored several peer-reviewed publications. Currently, he is conducting two research studies for Dr. Shingleton on pseudoexfoliation glaucoma. Dr. Yang is a member of the American Optometric Association and is bilingual in ​English and Chinese. Dr. Yang currently resides in the Boston area with his wife, son and daughter.​
