Dr. Burke earned her Bachelor of Neuroscience degree with a concentration in visual perception at the University of New Hampshire, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from New England College of Optometry. Prior to joining Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, Dr. Burke was Head Optometrist at the Davis Square location of Harvard Square Eye Care.
Dr. Burke’s love of science stems from her childhood growing up in Needham, MA, where she dreamed of becoming an optometrist at a young age. While at UNH, she researched the impact of light perception on the circadian rhythm of marine invertebrates, and that work was published in 2014.
While at NECO, she completed various specialty rotations, including working at three different Veteran’s Affairs Hospitals, interning in the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department at Tufts Medical Center and working with traumatic brain injury patients at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. As a result, Dr. Burke specializes in care for pediatric as well as geriatric patients and offers a variety of services.
During optometry school, Dr. Burke received several honors and awards, including the Massachusetts Vision Foundation Scholarship for her efforts in advancing the optometric profession as a student optometrist. In addition, she was winner of the Ophthalmic Business Plan Competition and was very active serving as President and as Treasurer at several student optometric societies at NECO.
