CERE: Center for Eye Research & Education:

The Center for Eye Research and Education is a non-profit foundation dedicated to the advancement of research, education and training in the field of vision care. Ophthalamic research studies conducted by the Center focus on improving the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease. Research is directed by physicians at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) and is conducted in clinical and surgical settings.

The International Eye Care Project has been restoring vision to patients in need for the last decade and has proven to be a model of sustainability. CERE has supported projects in Nepal, Belize, Honduras, Bhutan, Thailand, and Cambodia. In addition to restoring vision, we aim to restore quality of life and economic productivity for these people in need. In addition to international missions, the other major benefit of the CERE International USA Team is to educate the countries' ophthalmologists on the diagnosis and treatment of eye disease.

Many international ophthalmologists visit CERE in the United States for advanced training on technologies and practice efficiency in delivery of patient care. CERE has effectively raised matching funds from organizations and foundations in order to further leverage your donations. All team members pay their own travel expenses and take vacation time to work on these projects so your donation goes directly to helping those in need.

Founders Fellowship Program:
The Founder's mission for OCB was to provide the highest level of eye care to their patients and advanced training for young ophthalmologists. To continue in this spirit, the Founder's Educational Fund has been established to honor our Founders and their commitment to education and training.

The Ophthalmology Fellowship Program at OCB is designed to develop skilled medical and surgical ophthalmology clinicians and is among the most competitive in the country. OCB, in conjunction with Harvard Medical School and Tufts Medical Center, has trained over 200 fellows in past 40 years. Funding from the Center for Eye Research and Education, as well as Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, enables OCB to maintain its commitment to training.
