Bowdoin College Dr. Clinton Noyes Peters Medical Fund, a scholarship granted to
Maine-born students that covered the cost of medical school tuition. After
graduating from Bowdoin College and prior to attending medical school, Dr. Ney
was a research assistant at Boston Children’s Hospital for two years, studying
retinopathy of prematurity.
Dr. Ney received his medical degree from the
University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
After completing his Internal Medicine internship at Pennsylvania
Hospital, he went on to a residency in Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye
Institute of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
Dr. Ney stayed at the Scheie Eye Institute to complete his Fellowship training
in Glaucoma. In 2012, he received Scheie’s Excellence in Medical Student
Teaching Award.
Dr. Ney is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and
has published several peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters. His
ongoing clinical interests include the surgical management of glaucoma,
glaucoma laser treatment and cataract surgery. Dr. Ney’s practice offers a full
range of management for patients with glaucoma-related conditions, from drops
to laser to surgical interventions.
Dr. Ney has a particular interest and expertise
in minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, incorporating the latest surgical
techniques for the treatment of glaucoma.
The minimally invasive approach shortens recovery time with lower risk
compared to traditional glaucoma surgery.
These ever expanding approaches provide better glaucoma control and
often times allow patients to reduce or eliminate eye drop therapy.
A native of Portland, Maine, Dr. Ney is now
living on the South Shore area with his wife, their three young children and
dog. He enjoys skiing, running, coaching youth sports and being outdoors.
