Joshua J Ney, MD




Dr. Ney attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, ME where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He was the recipient of the Bowdoin College Dr. Clinton Noyes Peters Medical Fund. After graduating from Bowdoin College and prior to attending medical school, Dr. Ney was a research assistant at Boston Children’s Hospital for two years, studying retinopathy of prematurity.

Dr. Ney received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After completing his Internal Medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital, he went on to a residency in Ophthalmology at the Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Ney stayed at the Scheie Eye Institute to complete his Fellowship training in Glaucoma. In 2012, he received Scheie’s Excellence in Medical Student Teaching Award.

Dr. Ney is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and has published several peer-reviewed research papers and book chapters. His ongoing interests include the surgical management of glaucoma, glaucoma laser treatment and cataract surgery.

Throughout his training he has been dedicated to the education of medical students and residents, organizing and further developing the surgical training curriculum for ophthalmology residents. Additionally he has been invited to deliver annual lectures at the University of Pennsylvania Nursing School on Ophthalmology for the Primary Care Practitioner. Dr. Ney’s practice offers a full range of management for patients with glaucoma-related conditions, from medical to laser to surgical solutions. 

Dr. Ney grew up in Portland, Maine and is living in the Boston area with his wife and their two young children.
