Biography
Dr. Fynn-Thompson attended the University of Pennsylvania, and she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She received her medical degree from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, and her residency in Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University. She trained at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston and New England Eye Center/Tufts University School of Medicine as a fellow in Corneal and Anterior Segment disease. She has had experience in evaluating and treating patients with corneal and anterior segment diseases, complicated cataracts, and refractive issues.

Dr. Fynn-Thompson has spoken nationally and published in multiple journals. She has also written for text books, including a chapter on eye trauma for The Trauma Handbook of the Massachusetts General Hospital, chapters on Cornea, Embryology and Anatomy for Review Questions in Ophthalmology: A Question and Answer Book, Second Edition, and a chapter on posterior lamellar endothelial keratoplasty in Smolin and Thoft’s The Cornea: Scientific Foundations and Clinical Practice, Fourth Edition. She has also conducted clinical research in wavefront-guided refractive surgery technology.

Dr. Fynn-Thompson is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and a Diplomat of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is an active member within the American Academy of Ophthalmology volunteering her time on two committees. She is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the New England Ophthalmological Society. She performs small-incision cataract surgery, refractive cataract surgery, lamellar and full thickness corneal transplantation surgery, and other anterior segment surgeries and reconstruction. Dr. Fynn Thompson is qualified and performs laser vision correction. She is certified on the VISX Star 4 and Alcon excimer lasers, as well as the Intralase femtosecond laser. She is using the latest technology; wavefront guided custom ablation along with the Intralase laser, to perform refractive surgery.

Dr. Fynn-Thompson has a special interest in corneal dystrophies, corneal infections, intraocular lens repositioning, and refractive surgery.
