Doctor Varela completed her doctorate in Optometry and her residency in Pediatrics at the prestigious New England College of Optometry. Doctor Varela is highly trained in pediatric and adult eye care. In addition to her residency training in pediatrics, Doctor Varela completed internships at the Veteranís Affair Hospital in Worcester, Surgical Center in Bangor, Maine and South Boston Community Health Center. Doctor Varela has a thorough understanding of geriatrics, pre- and post-operative care and general ocular care at her internships. In addition she has a great passion for children and a comprehensive knowledge of ocular conditions in children. Doctor Varela is originally from Long Island, New York and currently resides in the Boston area with her husband. Outside of optometry, Doctor Varela loves to run and play piano.
