Dr. Cronin is a general ophthalmologist who specializes in the treatment of glaucoma. She sees patients at the Sandwich and West Yarmouth offices.
She was born in Massachusetts and grew up in southeastern Massachusetts. She received her undergraduate degree in electrical/biomedical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She worked as a hardware design engineer in Munich, Germany and as a software design engineer in Cambridge, MA while attending graduate school in biomedical engineering at Boston University. Becoming increasingly interested in medicine, she attended and graduated from medical school at Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. As a medical student, she participated in an externship in Zambia, Africa. She then completed an internship in internal medicine at Boston University Medical Center and a residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in international ophthalmology with ORBIS International. The ORBIS DC-10 aircraft is a mobile ophthalmic hospital that conducts programs in various developing countries teaching doctors ophthalmologic surgical and laser procedures. Dr. Cronin met with ministers of health, directors of hospitals, and directors of ophthalmology departments in various countries to plan and implement surgical training programs. She assisted with various aspects of programs in China, India, Myanmar, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Peru, and Cuba.
Dr. Cronin is Board Certified in Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She is an active staff member of Cape Cod Eye Surgery and Laser Center in Sandwich and of Falmouth Hospital. She is published and has lectured to ophthalmologists both nationally and internationally. She enjoys fishing, skiing, and SCUBA diving.
