 Biography Dr. Fine graduated from Brookline High School, then attended Wesleyan University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, where she was awarded the Oliver Memorial Prize as the best student in ophthalmology. She completed her internship in internal medicine and her ophthalmology residency at the University of California in San Francisco, where she received the Taylor Asbury Award for the best clinical research. Dr. Fine was then awarded the prestigious Heed Foundation Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where her clinical research focused on new screening tools for the early detection of glaucoma.
Dr. Fine has volunteered at several Boston area hospitals. Prior to attending medical school, she did public health work in Mexico and Ecuador. She remains fluent in medical and conversational Spanish. Since embarking on her advanced degrees, she has published several scientific articles in prestigious journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and Archives of Ophthalmology. Dr. Fine is a Fellow in the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Fine specializes in cataract surgery as well as the medical, surgical and laser treatment of glaucoma. She performs small incision cataract surgery and combined glaucoma/cataract surgeries. She has special interest in the epidemiology and the early detection of glaucoma.
