When you were first aware that you would need a corneal transplant, you probably had many questions. By the time you have the surgery you should be well prepared and knowledgeable. The consent giving your permission to perform the surgery will be explained and signed. You will be asked to go to your internist or to the surgery center for a medial and anesthesia consultation. An electrocardiogram and blood tests will be done as needed, and you will be questioned about your general health. It helps to be prepared by knowing what medications you are taking and the exact dosages as well as dates of hospitalization or serious illnesses.
