Rejection![]()
Corneas have the lowest rate of rejection by the body of any tissues that are transplanted. This does not mean rejection does not happen. In young, healthy adults, the incidence of rejection episodes has been estimated to be 20 percent in the year following surgery. If the rejection is recognized early, it usually can be reversed and the transplant saved by increasing the dose of steroid eye drops. You are using the eye drops to help prevent rejection.
